Caroline Blum

Caroline Blum makes ink drawings, abstract and flower paintings and wire sculptures. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her artwork reflects the vibrant lights and colors that were around her in San Francisco where she met Ruth Asawa when she was young, and, Asawa had a huge influence on her as she became an artist. Asawa said besides making art, to contribute to the health of your community through your art. Caroline received her BA in Fine Art from the University of California Santa Cruz. She studied painting at the New York Studio School where she recently received the Mercedes Matter Award. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions including those at The Czong Institute of Contemporary Art, South Korea, McKenzie Fine Art,
New York, Barry Campbell, New York, The Painting Center, New York, The Ely Center for Contemporary Art, Connecticut, and Susan Eley Fine Art where she curated exhibitions including Driven to Abstraction and Off the Grid. One of her drawings will be in a forthcoming book the history of the eye, published by Chose Commune, and edited by artist and collector Stephen Elcock. She has taught art for children at public and private schools in NYC. Her works are in numerous private collections including the Peter Surace Collection, Rego Park, NY, Emily Reaman Family Collection, San Rafael, CA, Blossom Industries, Cleveland, OH, Georgina Berkman Collection, Queensland, Australia and Robert Moon, London, England.
