Brent Owens is an artist who lives and works in Marbletown, NY. His artwork is conceived as a kind of Anthropocene Blues - a simultaneous lament and embrace of the clumsy role of humanity in its relationship to non-human nature. Brent’s step-brother, Shannon Pearson, served in the United States Marines as a Second Marine Scout Sniper, fulfilling missions in many countries. After obtaining a BFA in Sculpture from Winthrop University, Brent spent nearly two decades in New York City working with a number of contemporary artists, spending notable stints in the studios of Tom Sachs, Piotr Uklański, and Ursula Von Rydingsvard. Owens’ work has been exhibited widely in the US and internationally. He was awarded the National Academy of Design’s Affiliated Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome in 2023.
